المتحف يقع على الضفة الشمالية لنهر السين في باريس
متحف اللوفر (بالإنجليزية: The Louvre Museum) (بالفرنسية: Musée du Louvre) هو من أهم المتاحف الفنية في العالم كله، ويقع على الضفة الشمالية لنهر السين في باريس عاصمة فرنسا. يعد أهم متاحف فرنسا ، كان عبارة عن قلعة بناها فيليب أوغوست عام 1190 ، تحاشيا للمفاجآت المقلقة هجوما على المدينه أثناء فترات غيابه الطويلة في الحملات الصليبية ، وأخذت القلعة اسم المكان الذى شُيدت عليه. يعد أكبر متحف في العالم.وخضع في عهد الرئيس الفرنسي الراحل فرنسوا ميتيران إلى عمليات إصلاح وتوسعة كبيرة.
